It was absolutely lovely to come together as a community and celebrate the first official Shabbat of the school year. On Friday night, we gathered in the home of our Dean, Rabbi Artson and his wonderful wife Elana. We lit candles, joined in prayer and song, had a delicious meal, wonderful conversations and of course, some learning. Dr. Rabbi Avi Havivi spoke about peyut – poetic liturgy in the slikhot service leading up to the High Holidays. Gettin’ ready!
Today we davenned at our usual spot – Ikar – before joining the community for lunch at a neighboring shul. The Ziegler shabbaton continued into the evening with workshops, free time at the park and a learning dinner havdalah session with Reb Mimi. It was so wonderful to hang out and spend time with everyone. Such a great group of people!
I look forward to the learning we’ll continue to do this semester. The mix of students is incredibly eclectic and brilliant-minded. Great to have some friends back from Israel – but my friends there now are greatly missed!
Thanks to the Ziegler administration for an absolutely lovely weekend together. I’m so honored to be apart of this community! And for being able to raise my son in it!
Shavua Tov All!
